Private sector lukewarm to jobs for disabled: Wasnik
Social justice and welfare minister Mukul Wasnik on Thursday told Rajya Sabha that private sector has given a "dismal" response to a government incentive scheme for providing jobs to disabled. Wasnik also said the government is planning to bring a new "holistic and forward looking" legislation for people with disabilities. A committee, consisting of experts and representatives from various stakeholders has been set up to draft a new legislation, which would be in tune with the United Nations' Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

IBM, IIT-Bombay in mobile research tie-up
IBM has partnered with Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-Bombay) to conduct research on developing new user-friendly designs for mobile device interfaces. The collaboration aims to develop simple, inexpensive mobile phone interfaces that will help users interact with their phones easily regardless of their geography or education level, IBM said in a statement.
